BackgroundLocated in the Soos Creek Water & Sewer District, HP Car Wash has provided drive-thru and self-service car washing services since 2001. Since that time they have consistently set high standards for water efficiency and environmental stewardship.
Going GreenTwo years ago, HP installed a biological reclaim water system that cleans and reuses wash water. To help with initial costs, owner Lydia Cruz-Noel applied for financial assistance through the Water Smart Technology program provided by the Saving Water Partnership. The move was motivated by a number of factors, including cost and concern for resource use. “I believe that the changes we have made are good for customers, good for the environment, and good for our bottom line’” said Lydia.
Water ConservationIn addition to receiving a financial incentive through the Water Smart Technology program which paid for half the initial cost of the water reclamation system, Lydia noted that the system is virtually maintenance-free. She estimates that the new system:
