Required Citywide Best Management Practices

Per Seattle Municipal Code 22.803.030 all businesses in Seattle must implement the following six basic Best Management Practices (BMPs):

    • Eliminate Illicit Connections to Storm Drains
    • Perform Routine Maintenance for Drainage System
    • Dispose of Fluids and Wastes Properly
    • Proper Storage of Solid Wastes
    • Spill Prevention and Cleanup
    • Provide Oversight and Training for Staff

Please see pages 19-36 of the Source Control Manual for more information on each required practice.

In addition, those businesses that are located in the separated storm system must implement additional BMP’s based on their site activities.

Download and complete the Worksheet for Identifying Applicable BMPs for use in determining which BMPs are required for specific activities, including activities planned for project sites proposed for development.

For assistance in determining what BMP’s apply to your site activities, contact the Resource Venture at 206.343.8505 or help@resourceventure.org.
