Materials

There is a wide selection of green building construction materials available. Find what you need using the following resources:

Go to Seattle's Sustainable Resource Guide for lists of locally manufactured products made with recycled-content and vendors selling a wide range of building products.

The Green Spec Directory has information on more than 1,750 green building products carefully screened by the editors of Environmental Building News and organized by CSI division. Green Seal has manufacturer and product recommendations on its Web site for carpets, occupancy sensors, luminaries, particleboard and medium-density fiberboard.

For information about certified wood, go to Metafore, a non-profit organization that educates the building industry on using certified wood.

In addition, several environmental groups put together a certification to help consumers choose wood and paper products from forests managed to exemplary environmental and social standards.
