"Making the Case for Less Paper" Law Firm Event

Thank you for making our Resource Venture sustainability seminar for local law firms a huge success!

A typical lawyer uses 20,000 to 100,000 sheets of paper per year,
100,000 sheets = 4.5 tons of greenhouse gas emissions

  • Print double-sided internal documents and drafts
  • Try paperless billing for vendors and clients
  • Add PDF conversion capabilities to employee computers
  • Set printer default to duplex
  • Eliminate fax cover sheets or switch to electronic faxing
  • Increase the recycled content of paper you buy

PaperCut is an available software solution to monitor, quota and report network printing and internet use. PaperCut ChargeBack™ is designed specifically for the needs of engineering, graphic design, legal, and accounting firms. It allows businesses to track printing expenditure at the document level and recover costs from clients or projects. It also allows operators to place quotas on users, preventing abuse of printing services.

The Environmental Defense Fund has created a tool that will help you quantify the benefits of better paper choices. The Paper Calculator shows the environmental impacts of different papers across their full lifecycle.

Monadnock Paper Mills, Inc. has released the third edition of its renowned instructional how-to guide for creating more sustainable print materials. The guide represents information from choosing paper to recycling the finished piece, including paper types, paper contents, chemical labeling, sizing to reduce paper waste, inks, coatings, finishing techniques, binding, printing processes and the use of environmental logos.
