On January 1, 2008 all Seattle garbage and contracted compost prices will increase by an average of 6.7%.

In order to make the true difference between garbage and recycling services more obvious, all relevant taxes will now be included in the garbage service rates and not shown as a separate line item.  

All city-contracted compost services will be 32% below garbage prices for all service levels. Per ton fees on compacting dumpsters for compost service will stay at $50 per ton versus compacting dumpster garbage fees of $117 per ton.
